About Dawn
Dawn hails from Manchester, England and still has the strong accent! She’s fun loving with a cheeky sense of humour! Dawn worked in the travel industry for many years living around Europe and travelling the world so has a broad understanding of styles and influences that can be translated into the Australian dream home. Dawn frequents trade shows and in 2019 visited the ultimate Capital of Design to attend the Salon De Mobil…Milan Design week and what a week it was!
Dawns passion for design and helping people, has seen her successfully delivering quality service in the field for over 8 years. With an eye for detail and the obsession to create incredible, unique and timeless spaces, Dawn is friendly and professional, with an honest approach to put you at ease. She believes in keeping things simple for an easy, enjoyable process
Dawn and her Irish husband love to travel and spend many weekends in Noosa. The devoted mum of two understands the changing needs of a home for a family and is known for designing practical spaces, always searching for opportunities to create additional storage and choose selections to maximise the return on investment.

Likes: Champagne (loves), the beach, friends, dancing and a good laugh!

Dislikes: Slow drivers, talk back radio, beer, cold weather and flat shoes!!

As a Leader for over 30 years, Dawn has an innate ability to inspire and motivate people through connection and a sense of humour. She is genuinely interested in supporting and growing individuals drawing on her own extensive career, coaching, personal and professional development and life experiences. Dawn has a passion for sharing knowledge to help others in business and within the Design Industry.

Dawn Carey (nee Powell) has worked in the design industry for more than 10 years handling renovations and new builds for Residential and Commercial projects. Dawn has elevated her business from its inception in 2016 to have an enviable reputation as a high end Interior Design company. Keeping her finger on the pulse, Dawn recognised an opportunity to better serve clients working with smaller budgets, therefore creating a second business KBC Design in 2022 to work under her umbrella service offerings.
Dawn has spent many years providing educational services to aspiring designers and hobbyists through presentations, workshops, masterclasses, webinars and attending TAFE and Ulleo with face to face and online insights into the Industry, business and real life projects.

ULLEO
Ulleo is a unique, online Education Interior Design platform co-created with industry leaders. Dawn has contributed time and knowledge through video content created for the education platform's course catalogue.

TAFE
During her time working in the industry, Dawn has shown support and commitment towards students studying at QLD TAFE. Presenting Q&A sessions to classes during semesters, furthering their knowledge on real-world experiences.

Having provided work experience opportunities to many Designers over the years, Dawn is proud to have seen many go on to set up their own successful businesses.

Dawn loves to host and present at events, sharing her knowledge and experience as an Interior & Building Designer, and providing helpful tools and tips to people who are undertaking a renovation or build.
MOODBOARD MASTERCLASS
Dawn has been host to the #DIgetsMoody Moodboard Masterclasses at Brisbanes' Build & Design Centre since 2020. Presenting several times each year, the interactive seminar is always popular, lovers of design packing out every event!

EVENTS
Twice a year, Dawn presents at the Brisbane Home Show, providing critical information on Kitchen & Bathroom Design and Interior Design. Dawn has also presented at the Reno Home Show, Place Real Estate Champagne Campaign event and more.

GIVING BACK
Passionate about making a difference.

Dawn believes in giving back and supporting communities and charities that share her values and make a difference to society.
OPEN HAVEN
Dawn believes in giving back so dedicates time as an Ambassador for the Open Haven Charity which focuses on helping survivors of domestic violence return to independence. In 2021 Dawn raised $22K for Open Haven, going on to raise five-times that amount in 2022 as she raised $100K at her most recent Charity Gala.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Dawn sponsors Bulimba's local soccer club each year, Southside Eagles, assisting previously on the social committee. She has also sponsored many local events such as the Bulimba State School P&C Golf Day and Bulimba Fashion Festival that both raise funds for various charities.
