While working as an interior designer for a build and design company, Dawn Powell saw a gap in the design process. Taking clients from one showroom to the next would leave them feeling tired, overwhelmed and confused. This was the catalyst that drove Dawn to come up with a service that would be the ultimate stress-free experience for her clients.

Recently celebrating its fifth-year anniversary, Designing Interiors continues its growth in the building and design industry. The team pride themselves on getting to know each client, under-standing their brief and doing the hard work to present them with the design of their dreams. Dawn and her team now design and facilitate hundreds of projects each year through successful renovations, new builds and commercial fit-outs.

The brief for the project stipulated industrial and timeless, combining warm timbers and concrete features with black fixtures and fittings. “Our client was nervous to trust people with what was to be her dream home,” explains Dawn. “Our job can be very intimate; we have to understand how our clients live, function and what they value as it’s different for every project.”

Through Zoom calls with the client during the pandemic, the team were able to bring together a unique design for the Sunshine Coast home and ultimately achieve the client's vision. When finally meeting face-to-face on completion of the newly built home, the client expressed her delight with and love for the space, calling it her “sanctuary”.
